We see patients with a wide range of conditions. Some of the conditions we treat include:

Appendicitis

Appendicitis is when the appendix becomes sore, swollen and diseased. The appendix is a pouch on the colon that has no known purpose. Symptoms can include pain near the belly button, nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, fever and chills.

Colorectal cancer

Cancer of the colon or rectum is often called colorectal cancer. The colon and rectum are part of the large intestine. Colorectal cancers are the third most common type of cancer.

Complex wounds

A complex wound is an open wound that is difficult to heal. Complex wounds can include diabetic, pressure or venous stasis ulcers. Surgical treatment may be necessary for some wounds that do not heal with other types of treatment.

Diverticular disease

Diverticular disease happens when small bulges or pockets called diverticula develop in the lining of the intestine. These diverticula can become inflamed, causing fever and abdominal pain.

Fissure of the anus

An anal fissure is a cut or tear in the lining of the anal canal. Anal fissures can cause severe pain and bright red blood in bowel movements.

Gallstones

A gallstone is a hardened deposit that forms in the gallbladder, a small organ under the liver. Gallstones that cause painful symptoms may require surgical treatment.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are enlarged blood vessels in and around the anus and lower rectum. Symptomatic hemorrhoids can pain, swelling, discomfort, blood in bowel movements and other problems.

Hernias

A hernia is when part of an organ or tissue bulges through a weak spot in your muscle. Most hernias are in the abdominal wall. A hernia can cause pain and a visible bulge in the belly or groin.

Hidradenitis suppurativa

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a painful skin condition that causes skin abscesses and scarring. Small, painful lumps can develop under the skin in areas where skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin and buttocks.

Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)

Inflammatory bowel disease is a broad term that includes both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These conditions cause inflammation in certain portions of the intestinal tract, such as the small intestine, colon, rectum or anus.

Rectal prolapse

Rectal prolapse happens when the connections that hold the rectum inside the body weaken and the rectum can fall through the anus. With rectal prolapse, drainage of mucus, blood in bowel movements and fecal incontinence can all happen.
